Spune Signs Monahans, Robert Plant Covers Their Songs

Spune Signs Monahans To Development Deal - Robert Plant Covers One Of Their Songs

Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX – July 27, 2010:  Fort Worth's Spune (Telegraph Canyon, Doug Burr, Seryn, Texas Promoter) adds Austin’s Monahans to artist booking and promotions roster. Schedules regional appearances, books fall tour (with Doug Burr), and sets promotions for “2010 Recordings”, a monthy free song download series.

Welcome Monahans! Spune Productions, artist development company and promoter who books several venues in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, and handles management and label services for Telegraph Canyon, Seryn and Doug Burr, has been casually working with Monahans off and on for years. It was hard not to when half of Monahans (Britton Beisenherz, Rob Sanchez) often perform as Doug Burr’s backing band, and Ramble Creek Studios (owned by Britton Beisenherz) has been home to the last five releases for the label (Telegraph Canyon’s The Tide and The Current, Doug Burr’ On Promenade, The Shawl, O Ye Devastator, upcoming fall 2010 release for Seryn).

“It was just hard to stay away I guess. It made sense to make things official. I’m not sure why it took so long actually. Monahans is one of the most underrated bands around. I’ve always loved their music and been a fan for years. I want to help get them in front of more people.” - Lance Yocom, owner of Spune Productions.

At the beginning of the summer, both parties agreed to exclusive representation to begin developing the band in the areas of regional booking and publicity.

Milton Mapes Song Covered For Robert Plant’s “Band of Joy” Album Before Monahans, songwriter Greg Vanderpool wrote music and performed under the moniker, Milton Mapes. “The Only Sound That Matters", a song which first appeared on Milton Mapes’ 2003 album, “Westernaire”, has been recorded by Robert Plant for inclusion on his new record ”Band Of Joy,” (out September 14th, 2010 in the US). Read all about it.

2010 Recordings Beginning in March of 2010, Monahans started releasing a new song for FREE each month from the band’s website in a series of monthly downloads called “2010 Recordings”. This will continue for the remainder of the year! Grab the first 5 songs.

This Thursday LIVE on KUT, Austin This Thursday, July 29, at 2pm (CST), Monahans will perform a live set and interview on KUT (90.5FM) Austin and kut.org. The band will be promoting songs from their monthly download series and upcoming show at Club DeVille in Austin this Saturday.

Telegraph Canyon Live: Reviews, Photos & Video

Telegraph Canyon Receives Praise For Casa Manana Performance!

Photo by Dallas Observer. Check out their slideshow here

Telegraph Canyon proved why it's one of the most essential bands in the entire state, never mind North Texas. By now, Telegraph Canyon has perfected the art of skating as close as humanly possible to upstaging headliners. - DFW.com

Telegraph Canyon has risen to the position of being a local institution. Their set at Casa Mañana Wednesday night was as much a celebration as a concert. Every song was greeted by applause from the audience, and the band seemed to feed off the good will. The septet plowed through their set with authority and even earned an encore – a unique accomplishment for an opening act – which they performed acoustic at the very front of the stage. Judging by the standing ovation they received after their set, one would think they were the nationally touring headliners performing Wednesday. - Pegasusnews.com

Telegraph Canyon, as always, was exacto-knife sharp in their performance. They even earned a near-complete standing ovation before the encore provided plenty of energy for Chris and the rest of Canyon to go unplugged for their last song, "Into the Woods", which was followed by another, this time complete, standing O. - Dallas Observer

Another Session In The Bag
Seryn ("One of Denton’s hottest bands in any genre - FW Star-Telegram") has wrapped up another productive session at Ramble Creek Studios in Austin. It was "magical" in fact, according to Ramble Creek Engineer and Master, Britton Beisenherz. "It is going to be a beautiful record!" he says. From what we've already heard, we absolutely agree! We're thinking this will be ready for an early fall release so sit tight!
