" Monahans, named for a region of desolate West Texas sand hills, balances thundering rhythms and atmospheric "landscape rock" with urgent pop anthems and spiritual campfire balladry (Explosions In the Sky + R.E.M + Neil Young). Since their 2006 inception, Monahans have toured in support of Centro-matic and Cowboy Junkies, and played alongside the likes of J. Tillman & Magnolia Electric Co. Albums to date include Low Pining (2007, Undertow) and the 2009 Misra debut Dim The Aurora. "We Tremble" was the July release from the 2010 Recordings; a collection of songs being released once a month through the end of the year. All the tracks released to date can be downloaded FREE. Birds & Batteries stopped by the D Magazine offices for a rare stripped-down set while they were in town a couple weeks ago. If you have seen the band live, and are familar with their music and videos, you know how different of a set up this is for their show. According to D Magazine, the band "killed it"! We agree.
In other B&B news, here are some photos from the band's NYC show at Pianos. To check out more, head over to The Village Voice.
If you did not hear (which would be surprising), we're releasing Panorama, the new album fromSan Francisco band, Birds & Batteries, in CD, LP and digital formats on Oct 12th. You can download the first single from the record for free at Magnet Magazine and also catch them on their US tour happening right now.
Yes, the band is kind of busy! Although, they were nice enough to find some time to make some videos and do a couple remixes to hold us over.
A video for the song “Lighting (UTNG Version)” from the 2009 EP, Up To No Good. It uses the kinetic film art of Len Lye from 1935’s Colour Box.
Michael Sempert of B&B remixes New York band, ARMS.Take a listen. Hear the original here.
"B&B...an immensely talented band who are, in my estimation, about to get kinda famous. The play a hybrid amalgam of classic cosmic country, Gram Parsons-style, and Eno-y electro sounds… it’s unlikely, but it works incredibly well, and singer (and fellow bearded Brookline, MA kid) Mike Sempert has a beautiful, odd voice that i find rather addicting. Their new album,Panorama, should be out soon. Birds & Batteries’ remix of our song “Heat & Hot Water” turns the song inside-out, reassembling the pieces into an almost MJ-ish funk beast. It’s totally nutso, and i love it." - ARMS
Oh No Ono’s Remix EP Out Now! Michael Sempert of Birds & Batteries contributed a remix for Denmark band, Oh No Ono's, new release. The Internet Warrior EP is available now on Friendly Fire Records and includes remixes by Caribou, Efterklang, Zambri and lots more. Listen | Download
Expect more remixes, videos and other fun B&B stuff soon.

Experience it live when the band opens for School of Seven Bells Friday, October 8th at Hailey's. Follow the band on Facebook.
Watch Part 2. of this live performance, check out photos from Bethany's paintings, and listen to an MP3 here. Stay tuned for more shows from these guys.
